Photographer's Note
On New Year's Day in my home town, Philadelphia, we have the Mummers Parade. The Mummers are groups of people from different parts of the city who march up Broad Street, create floats, and play music. They sometimes create intricate costumes. There are different categories:comics, fancies, floats, and stringbands. This man is a comic, where the emphasis is on comedy. Traditionally only men were allowed to participate, although many women participate in the parade now. They compete for prizes and prepare most of the year for it.

Hi Christina, nice shot. What a great idea to get out and shoot a parade. This shot has really nice use of colours and is composed well. Furthermore, I like how this chap is holding a fast food beveridge container. The background is well concealed by his umbrella. Thanks, Don
