Photographer's Note
The classroom has not changed much over the generations - this one represents one near where my grandmother grew up. While nothing looks surprising - the children must have given it a whole different character. Many could not afford to wear shoes, came from large families and had different futures to dream about than we do today.

Great composition, Dan. Very nostalgic too. Looks similar to the old town school in my area.

Hi, Dan,
What strikes me is how well-lit the scene is. I am a bit surprised for an old classroom that there is so much light (unless you used a high ISO setting, which, if you did, is pretty impressive since there doesn't seem to be a lot of noise. I like the crispness of the image.

The classic image of the classic schoolroom we've come to expect here from American films - really very special to have that sense of a relative like your grandmother being a pupil in a place like this.
best wishes Kev

I really like this one, Dan, but had forgotten to write you a note. I like the composition, with the side angle to include the desks and front of the room, the picture of Lincoln on the wall, and even a bit of WV map. Would be neat to see more of that, or details in the books, but the overall scene here is so nice and evocative of another time. Thanks for sharing. Hope you are doing well,
