Photographer's Note
California's Mission San Rafael was built in 1818, built during the unsettled years of turning over authority from Spain to Mexican leaders. Little thought was given to its architectural design. The mission never had a quadrangle nor a bell tower. It does have the unique star windows like Carmel Mission.

Hello Ray,
As always, your note is informative. I had no idea that Spain turned over authority to Mexico in 1818, presumably in most of California. As I look at the style of Carmel Mission I see that it looks more modern than most of the other missions. The Quadrangle and bell tower are indeed missing.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Ray, a beautiful addition to your California Mission series. Architecture is difficult to photograph because it is angular and there are so many things like trees and signs to distract the eye. I like that little statue of the missionary in the yard area. I think a different perspective would have enhanced your photo by not including the street light.
It is only my opinion.... :)
TFS,
Karen
