Photographer's Note

The charm of an old barn is in its use of the local natural materials which give it the character of having "grown" there. This one in Rosemont, New Jersey, has the fieldstone foundation typical of most that were raised in the early and mid-19th century, as well as the rough-cut, purely functional, wood siding. What makes this one distinctly different from most others is its green color, though underneath the peeling paint you can spot the original and more customary "barn red."

I liked the way the light and shadows at this particular moment brought out the textures of the stone and wood, and how the emptiness inside the upper windows inspired a sense of wistfulness for another time.

I like the textures and the light.Great composition and framing.I like the colors and the contrast between them.

I like the old wood texture you have captured here. Being me if you don't mind...I would have taken the for sale sign away before taking the shot. The second floor area seems to have sliced your photo inhalf to an extant. I might have taken a walk around this area to check out a few different angles of viewpoint. But your eyes are much different than mine, and your perspective sees alot of the same things I too look for in photography. Nice work. LS
