Photographer's Note
This shot (or rather, HDR of 3 shots) was taken on Christmas Day, 2009 - minutes after The Joy of the Weeping Willow.
This is Lake Elizabeth - a jogging park that occasionally displays stunning sunsets. See also this photo, and this one.
I've used HDR imaging to a slightly different end here. Normally, HDR is used to jam as much dynamic range into a photo as possible. Here, I've used it to equalize the brightness across the image - more like a digital GND filter. The difference most noticeable in the lack of detail in the opposite shore of the lake.
For some reason, the final effect reminds me of Fuji Velvia...

Hi Biswaroop
I agree with your comment about the lack of detail in the opposite shore - i wonder if a F11 may have been more effective for you.
what i love most about this photo are the ripples in the water in the foreground, and throughout. love the textured water, and of course the orange hues above.
Great work, and i appreciate your eagerness to try something different with digital/HDR
Cheers

Very good HDR shoot. I have seem too many HDR photos with such extreme dynamic range which looses nature appeal of photography. I don't attempt any HDR shoots, however if I were to, this is the kind of result I would aim for.
Well done!!

Hi Biswaroop
A beautiful painting of the sky well captured with bright clouds of great day has come. A proud moment to share. The sun as this one is wonderful.

Hi Biswaroop,
Beautiful HDR photo without artificial effect, good balancing between the sky and water, impressive evening view, distinct image combined with threes photos, well done.

This is appaling in its vividness, Biswaroop -- an interesting application of HDR. I agree that the far-shore detail suffers a bit, although I don't think that's hugely important in this image. I wonder if you might not have captured more of that detail, however, by metering off the sky to the left of the sunset, then adjusting to the desired depth of field, then adjusting your shutter speed a commensurate number of stops to get a comparable exposure.
I know getting correct exposure for both sky and water is no small feat, so the HDR is a creative way to tackle that without a GND.
Your foreground sharpness is very nice, and the reflections in the water seem accurate and crisp.
A lot of work...and nice work!

Hi Biswaroop!
I like very much this kind of nature captures, where sky is really amazing showing its wonderful palette of colours, and this time is double good adding your reflections play...
Very beautiful capture, and very good HDR work!
Have a nice week end...
Manu
