Photographer's Note

Festivities happen also during the day at the San Diego County Fair. On the other side of the modern rectangle/Spanish Colonial buildings in the background is the Del Mar Race Track, betting allowed, and encouraged. Del Mar has been since the beginning and attractive spot south of Los Angeles and just north of San Diego, now a two to three hour drive by freeway.

Hi, Ray,
I can recognize this typical Spanish architecture on the background, and this photo also reminds me my travelling around California. Amazing capture of the event, it's just short story with a lot of interesting details. Marvelous colors, good exposure and excellent quality! Is it a scanned photo?

Hello Ray,

I love fairs. I go to the Arizona State Fair often. The spectators here are enjoying themselves watching the Uncle Sam guys on their stilts. I think that fairs with their food and people are a must for a family as everyone has something to see there.

I am not familiar with this event, but I know county fairs from my childhood on the farm in Iowa and after all these years, your photo brings back fun memories.

Hi Ray, How nice shot from this fiesta. The view of the guy with such long legs and American colours must be great fun for kids. Nice colonial architecture in the background.

Howdy Ray,

I presume that this is a scan from either a colour slide, a negative or a colour print which may explain its slight lack of sharpness. But any slight lack of sharpness is completely overtaken by the subject matter - a wonderfully happy and colourful photograph of fairground fun on a lovely warm and sunny summer's day!

The two guys on stilts are perfectly placed in the frame and I love how the children are gazing at them with interest and wonder. Lovely light and colours and perfect exposure too.

Hi Ray,
I like the architecture that presents a good backdrop behind, and an interesting scene in front, even though the stilted clowns are a bit odd looking. The body language of the young girls looking at the scene seem to indicate that they too think the clowns are a bit odd. Nice bright light, makes this look like a very fun day and place.
