Photographer's Note

Like one of the mother ships in the film "Independence Day," a lenticular cloud hovers above the San Francisco Mountains north of Flagstaff reflecting the pre-sunrise color onto the snowy landscape below.

On a New Years weekend trip to Page, Arizona, the impossible colors of the land and sky forced me pull off Highway US 89 at Western Star Road (a mile or two short of the turn off for the Sunset Crater National Monument) to take a few photos before they disappeared.

ISO 200, f/6.3 at 1/30th second, 70mm focal length
