On an East Village corner..., a photo from New York, Northeast

Photographer's Note

What can you expect to see on a corner in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan? Cars stopped at red lights, various food trucks, and, sometimes, colorful murals. At the corner of First Avenue and East 11th street I found all three.

I’ve walked by this corner many times, and every time that orange food truck has been there, so it had to be included in the view. :-) The mural of Michael Jackson has also been there for a while, and it’s the work of Brazilian street artist Eduardo Kobra. He has many murals here in NYC, and three in the East Village. Directly across the street, on the west side of First Avenue, is his mural of former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg.

I'm sorry I haven’t been posting many new photos recently. My photo walks in Manhattan have slowed down a bit. I hope to get back out there soon, and in the mean time I’ll keep viewing all your lovely photos. Take care everyone!

Ciao Brenda,in fact it is really a pity that lately you have posted a few photos, this is absolutely fantastic, well ... few but good! I had obviously recognized Jackson, especially thanks to the right side of the mural, while his juvenile version reminded me of Arnold from the TV-series "Diff'rent Strokes" ..ahaha ... very rich capture, the details also allowed me to observe the photos of the food sold by the street food truck, and I always care a lot..ehehe ... Hello Brenda,
This is a wonderful giant mural representing Michael Jackson, partly as a child star and partly as an adult performer.
The colourful food truck almost looks like part of the building, like a painting on the walls of the ground floor.
The branches of the tree don't hide anything and only make the photo more attractive.
With hopefully beautiful spring and summer days ahead, I hope you can show us more photos of NYC like this one.

Hello Brenda,
I really wish I had a number of huge, bright murals like this in my neighborhood. The size, colors and imaginative process behind this one makes it a must to any street photographer. The food truck looks like it's part of the paining, so it really belongs to this place. The tree and the car enhance the city atmosphere, and I guess the same goes for the usual tags at street level. It's a delightful picture,

A fantastic photo with lots of bright colours, which stand out even better from the black and white walls around the murals. Also that food truck as well as the young leaves in the trees make a great addition to this picture.

no apologies for not posting new photos - my goodness, I have hardly taken any photos in 2 years since my son was born. Travel photos I mean, and even Vancouver shots...its mostly family photos now. I have to admit, I miss it dearly and I want to get back out there. this is a wonderful post, I wish this mural was around when I was in Manhattan. Too bad about that black SUV being in the way, the food truck is ok because its kinda goes with the splash of colors. The life of Michael...that's a conversation for another day!!!

Hello Brenda, Kobra has such a own style that I have recognized it at once, even without reading the note. Wonderful colours. The red food car looks also attractive. I see Michael Jackson on the right hand side but who is on the left?

Very colorful amalgam of various elements which look together more like a collage than a real life photo.
The colors are so pleasantly saturated.
I see the food truck sells hallal food.
The face in the right makes me think of Michael Jackson...
