Photographer's Note

In 1984, a group of sculptors from Loveland, as well as some city representatives and other interested parties developed an idea of holding a sculpture show in Benson Park. The following year (1985), their idea was launched resulting in Benson Park Sculpture Garden.

In mid August, the Loveland High Plains Arts Council (LHPAC) put up an annual ‘Show and Sale’ event in the park for visitors to participate for a small fee, called the Sculpture in the Park festival. The proceeds from the event contribute to acquiring an addition to the park’s collection and to its maintenance and improvement.

The LHPAC has donated all of the 172 sculptures currently on display. Over the years, the exhibits have extended from Benson Sculpture Garden to North Lake Park across the road.

We are looking at the Grassland Middle Pond of Benson Park, which serves as a wildlife habitat.
