Photographer's Note
Well I had just gotten my first digital camera days before and was snapping pictures with unrestrained enthusiasm and no understanding of how to set the size, or that I even could set it (or anything else for that matter), because I hadn't read the manual yet... Kind of like being in love before your brain catches up..
So here, unfortunately in 640 x 480, is one of my first shots, of a house which is full of history both real and personal. Shot on a cool March day, before the humid season, when the sky really was that blue and the pond that clear.
The house is a typical style New Jersey farmhouse circa mid-1800's (although the white paint was recently replaced by cedar siding on all but the dormers); the small fieldstone building at the pond's edge is a springhouse, where more perishable food items were kept cold in the days before electrical refrigeration.
No post-processing other than sharpening.

It seems to be nice place, Lisa. I like the photo, because it has very pleasing atmosphere and colors. Regarding composition, I'd prefer less symetry -- border between water and land should be lower or upper and the house should not be in the center, I think. But anyway, it's a good shot.

Beautiful ! The colors, the reflection on the water... maybe if the house were not centered it would be even better.
Undoubtfully very nice to look at !
Congratulations !

Great shot, Lisa. I like the colors and the sharpness of this photo and of course also the subject that invite you to a contemplative break.

Well a lovely shot you have posted here. This old home is nice and dark with white framework. Because the water is a big chunk of this photo I would either crop a little off the bottom or let me see more sky in this scene. nice work.

I like this one very much, Lisa. Very sharp and colourful and also a nice place. One of the best I've seen the last weeks. Should get much more points... maybe the points come tomorrow...
regards,
Luc.

Hi Lisa,
For sure a nice place you show us, you had good light on this day, and the structures of the house stand out well, helped by the white areas. Well done !
Have a nice day,
Jean-Yves

Hi, Lisa, it's a nice shot and I appreciate your comment, too. My only comment would be about putting the house smack in the middle, conventional wisdom in composition is to avoid that, and I think I agree because the effect is to make you ignore the other interesting things to look at in a fine photo like this. Keep them coming,
Matt

Lisa,
I love these farm house, pond photos also.
I always look for these type of settings in pennsylvania when I travel into Amish country.
I see you have several of similar taste here.
Great job!
peace,
haans :)
