Photographer's Note

Two climbers relax and enjoy the views from the summit of Central Peak as the sun sets. Background mountains include (from left) Granite Mountain (2177 ft.), Elk Mountain (2270 ft.), and Mount Marcy (2410 ft.). Granite and Elk are found in the Charons Garden Wilderness, while Mount Marcy is in the restricted access area of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge, which means that it is inaccessible to the public. Central Peak is located right in the center (imagine that!) of the WMWR, and provides some of the best views in existence to the restricted areas.
