Lone Cyprus, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

This tree is supposedly the most photographed in the US. It is beautiful but even better I was lucky enough to be there at sun set. The color on the surrounding trees was so dramatic that it seemed too good to be true. Fortunately it photographed as it looked.

The photo is sharpened and saturation was increased. The time stamp in the camera data is incorrect because I did not reset the camera clok for my vacation, it was near 5 PM when shot.

Well that place looks a lot warmer than Korea! Are you still on vacation? The colours are very nice here with lots of detail. I also like how you kept plenty of the sky. It's a nice contrast to the greens of the trees.

Hi Greg, I've been to many places, but I've never seen the Pacific Ocean, except from a plane. This is a lovely evening shot - great colour capture. The Ocean looks quite inviting - beckoning me in for a swim!

Excellent tonality here in your image. I think you've taken one of the better shots of this famous tree. I would have cropped some of it on the left. I'll do a workshop on this fine image for an alternate view..

the most photographed tree in the USA, indeed!
I appreciate your version, great POV and the saturation works very well for me. Specifically those reds and greens perfectly render the idea of late Fall/late afternoon Monterey's surroundings.
