Photographer's Note
Homes along the Greenbrae Boardwalk are built on wooden foundations resting on mudflats adjacent to the San Francisco Bay. Flowers may be enjoyed but only if the owners place them in planters on their decks, as did the person who brightened this home with the bouquest depicted. Immediately behind the flowers is a cart used to carry groceries along the narrow boardwalk from the owner's auto parked perhaps a quarter mile away to her home. By European standards that may not seem a hardship, but for a typical American accustomed to a two-car garage with a door opener, it represents a significant sacrifice, made, no doubt, for the pleasure of living in one of the most rare communities in the Bay Area.
This shot was taken late in the afternoon. I did minimal post-capture treatment in Photoshop, cropping, applying Unsharp Mask and adjusting levels.
