And what is Silverton most famous for in recent years? Movie filming! Many films have been filmed in and around Silverton (and not talking about the Silverton in Colorado which has probably also featured in movies).
3 of the most famous internationally movies have been Mad Max 2, Priscilla Queen of the Desert and Mission Impossible 2.
The main photo shows the Silverton Pub at breakfast time with one of the pub dogs following me. The pub has appeared in most of the movies although the name of the pub gets changed for most movies.
Sitting outside the pub is a vehicle from Mad Max. Silverton also has a dedicated Mad Max museum. The dog also appears in WS1 looking up the wide dirt main street of the town.
In WS2 is part of the first Silverton Pub where the very first meeting of the huge BHP mining company board was held.

Charming small hotel with a "western" style design, Ian.
The dog was indifferent to your presence with the camera... charming addition.
Good afternoon,

Hello Ian,
Three interesting photos with a rather peculiar atmosphere. I'm not surprised that movie makers like to come to this strange place. The note explains that the black car isn't used by the pub owner, or by any of the guests, on a daily basis. I hope you thanked the dog for providing you with a good composition.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
The presence of the dog and ogf the guests at the hotel is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the Silverton Hotel. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian,
Fantastic effect with the wide dirt road in the foreground.
Nice stylish hotel. The dog adds a nice touch in the foreground.
FRom the movies listed, I have only seen Mission Impossible and I am trying to think which scenes could have been filmed there...

Hi Ian,
This is a classic Silverton photo - all dust, dogs and Mad Maxian cars. Good idea to include the wide dirt road in the foreground, as well as the dog, to give a sense that this is near the limits of civilization. The hotel seems to be in good shape. I haven't seen it for about 25 years.

Hello Ian.
A curious construction that reminds me of American Western movies, large spaces in the town as I also see in the WS.
I love the image of the dog, which is exactly the same as one that some uncles had when I was a kid.
Magnificent image, with good lighting, color and sharpness.
Good work. I like it
Enjoy a happy day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Ian,
Silverton's main street reminds me a bit of the main street of Kompong Phluk in Cambodia.
The buildings there are also made of wood, but they look very different.
It looks like a nice place to have breakfast and also to spend the night. But given the fame of this hotel the prices won't be for me.
The dog was probably hoping to get breakfast from you, but the moment you took the photo, it was sadly distracted.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ian,
The car is absolutely crazy, it is easy to believe it's a movie vehicle. The building is quite stylish and fits with this dry sandy terrain. The dog is perfectly placed.

Hello Ian,
Breakfast? Don't tell me you you have Vietnamese tastes when it comes to your protein! I also like that modified VW Bug.
