This is a Red Rumped, or Grass Parrot, taken in Studley Park. It is common in S.E. Australia. As the name suggests it feeds on grass seeds. This is a male. Females don't have the red area on their back.

Hello Steven,

A wonderful parrot. We don't get these up in Queensland; they are restricted to the cooler south. I have seen them as an aviary bird. Very sharp quality and great colour range and saturation. I believe this is the male, as the female is a bit of a khaki green colour. TFS.
