Photographer's Note
When it is low tide in Kiribati, the inside of the atolls become vast areas of exposed sand banks stranding any boats that may be moored there. Like the first picture of Kiribati that I posted two days ago, I like this one because it illustrates just how uncrowded the islands are and how nice it is to find a place where there are no other tourists. There are actually three people in this photograph – they are the specks about 2-3 mm below the horizon towards the centre and centre-right of the picture. They are local people on the sand banks collecting shell fish. By the time the tide comes up again, they will each have collected a large sack of crustaceans, which form part of the staple diet of the Gilbertese.
This shot was taken looking west across the Temaiku Bight, not far from Tarawa’s airport. PP: cropped at bottom, levels adjusted, contrast +9, saturation +7, unsharp mask.

What a wonderful photo! The clarity and colors are great. I especially like how you've captured the differing hues of the water. Nicely done.

Nice shot David;
The colors are superb, and the detail great. Your right, this photo does convey the feeling of being alone. Like a deserted island of sorts.
Nicely captured,

Again the colours you got are fantastic. The composition is great. And the owner of the boat ? He just leave it till the water comes up ? And if you don't tell nobody could find the two people. I can't even knowing they're there.

Hello David - this one popped up randomly for me and instantly grabbed me with its bright colours. The blue of the sea and sky are complemented by the rich golden colour on the boat. Very good composition too with the boat in the corner and pointing towards the centre of the frame.
