Photographer's Note
More from the balloon festival over the lake.
I caught a foggy morning full of character.

This shot lacks only one thing... composition. The rest of it- great! Wow, what a fun thing! The rushes, the shadowy second balloon off to the side, the worry that the balloonists are going to end up floating under a bunch of baloon fabric hoping they don't sink.... it's great! I am thinking perhaps if you cropped both sides and made it a horizontal it might work better. It'd still be a centered baloon, but try it and see what you think.

A high-contrast scene full of drama. I think the composition actually works well: you give us just a taste of the balloon emerging from the fog on the far left (are there any others?), you leave us to imagine the shape of the slightly off-centre balloon (are its occupants in for a drenching?); how deep is the water?; how dense and tall do the reeds get? Powerfull image full of mystery.

Absolutely stunning Pam!!! I like the composition, colours, misty atmosphere, everything... Photography with a major "P". Just perfect!...

Personally, I don't think the composition could be any better than what you have in this photo, Pam. What an incredible photo of a really fun moment. I bet it was neat to be so close to this kind of drama and to listen to all the sounds associated with it, too. :-)

This shot has superb atmosphere, and I personally like the composition, my eye is drawn to the action in the centre, but the foreground silloueted fronds and the balloon to far left give it balance. I love the fog, too.

Fantastic shot that quite renews The "balloon" genre photography, usually playing with colors and blue sky : who has ever told the loneliness of the balloonists over misty cold swamps? Well you did first...
That's also great compo with a reverse triangle on the borders(background ballon+foreground plants)focusing on the drama. Sure couldn't be more composed more or you're a damn machiavelist.
However, i'm not always satisfied with the BW conversion in digital, the greys are always looking a bit tweaky, coming from desaturated colors. Wish it was a silver halide print...

Beautiful photograph, love the composition. The fog really adds to the mood and I like how you can see another balloon off in the distance in the upper left hand corner.

This is really great shot to me the atmosphere and the dynamics it reflects are really strong!

This is a beautiful shot. I'm glad you decided to present it in B&W...anything else would just not work as good. The misty morning adds nice mood to the whole image. There are so many details hidden here that it takes some time to explore and see them all. Very well done.

Wow, unusual shot! Because usually there is a lot of sun, fields or mountains...

Interesting photo, whats the story in the morning glory :-))
Technical good, but is it in black&white ? I cant tell. I see the balloon in the background as green ? Am I right ?

Nice. Great feeling created by the fog. For the framing, I think that it could be better if the balloon was more on the right side of the photograph.

Wow, what an absolutely beautiful shot! It must be one of the best I have seen ever! I love the composition, the light, and the moment you were fortunate enough to experience right then and there. Excellent!

Wow...this is a great shot! The composition and timing couldn't be better. Henri Cartier-Bresson would like this one! Bravo!

I love this image. It is not usually a good idea to put the subject in the center, but in this particular case it really works. I especially love the way the silouetes are used...they make the image so much more interesting. The balloon that just shows through the mist is what makes this image so fantastic. I love the composition and the use of the dark against light. Great work!

Magnificent B&W composition. You have greatly captured the morning light and misty mood. The silhouette of the leaving balloon is very detailed. The "travel" mood is there. Powerful work!

beautiful shot.. the mist adds some mystery to the composition. I like the balloon silhuette in the background, melting with the mist.
the foreground vegetation creates a very interesting composition, almost as a spy eye.
Well done!

Olá Pam!
This photo reminded me of Jules Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days".
Lovely composition with the silhouettes and the rising fog. The use of black&white here was a very clever choice, congratulations and thanks for sharing,
Ana
