View over lake Wanaka from Mt Roy. The atmosphere was very "Lord of the Rings". Mt Roy(1578m) is reached by a steep trail that starts at lake level, takes 3hrs one way, these photos were taken from about 1400m. level, I did not make it to the top, it began to snow (the misty right part is snowshowers not a tornado) and it was getting late. The trail was officially closed for the lambing season, but other walkers were on the trail, so I trespassed. The first half of the trail is covered with sheep and cow s**t. Sorry about the stitch quality, I could not do make it better. Combined 3 landscape mode photos with 28mm lens.
Best wishes to all for the new year.

Hello Tan,
Something is wrong with the system.
I'd like to give 10 points for this but it only allows two points. Anyway: BIG SMILE!!!
No matter how many rules you broke and how close you came to heartattacks - this panorama was definitelly worth the effort.
Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year, Tan.

Spectacular scenery, and a spectacular shot. No need to apologize for the stitch, it looks good to me. I like the way the ridge moves from the right downward to the left and draws the viewer's eye right into the scene. Amazing work!

en ouvrant la version large je m'imagine sur un delta plane naviguant vers ce vertigineux abîme.

By opening the large version I imagine myself on a delta planes sailing towards this vertiginous abyss. The composition and the high definition are splendid.

Wow Tan, this is a very good panorama. I never did a panorama stitching, so I can't judge the quality of it, but I can say that it is not noticeable! I'm impressed by the sharpness of this picture, the very beautiful colors, the imposing of the mountains. I can say that it is a very inspiring picture. Thanks a lot for this one!

Hi Tan. I don't see any problems with the stitch quality as you say in your note. This was a perfect shot for the panorama format and we can appreciate it so much more with the higher-res version. It doesn't look that cold but I guess it is. The clouds make the shot for me. Happy New Year to you too Tan!

Hi Tan
Wow that's a superb panorama a la Tan, which means taken from a superb overlooking position. There seem to be nice storms raging that add to the Mordoresque atmosphere, an erupting volano and it would be perfect ;-))
Happy celebration and Best Wishes to you for 2006,
Jean-Yves

Hello Tan! What a lovely landscape! Your view is great (hats off just for getting there!) and the panorama looks to be well made. I cannot see any stitches. I think the sun created some unwanted circles in the center, but it is hardly noticeable. The colours and ligth are magnificient, and as I said, a stunning point of view. Tesekkurler and all the best to you Tan! Chris

salut Tan, superbe panorama, on se croirais vraiment sur le tournage de LOTR. C'est superbe mis à part un leger problème de raccord entre la premeière et la seconde photo qui a mon avis est facilement corrigeable.

I sit dumbfounded in front of the enlarged version of this panorama. The combination of the three photos are done so seamlessly!I am also a fan of panorama but have found combining pictures taken by wide-angle lens a task beyond my means because i can't control the distortion.Could you possibly give me some tips in taking and combining panoramas? Thanks a million!

The composition is very, very good, especially for a panorama (where many photographers don't think as much about composition). The slope of the foreground on the left carries the viewer's gaze in a gentle curve to the foreground on your right, where the ridgeline takes over and brings your gaze directly to the center top of the image to look at the mountains at the far end of the valley. At least, that's where my eyes took me. :)

Hi "easy life Tan", i saw this one in your random 3 pictures .. and as a "3 digits transformer" i can't resist make it reach this barrier, symbolic perhaps and no value but it really deserves it.
What a shot !!!
So beautiful, seems coming from another world
