Photographer's Note

Hi All.

Last weekend I managed to get myself and Sue out of bed early enough to catch the sunrise from Wharite peak. It’s about an hours drive from home but well worth the effort.

Wharite peak is the site of the major television and radio transmission aerials for the Manatwatu, and central Hawkes bay regions. At an altitude of 900 metres you can see most of the regions mentioned as well as the spine of the Tararua ranges. You also look down on the wind farms.

We were fortunate to get spectacular conditions for our visit with low cloud over the lower hills and clear skies in between. In the distance the spine of the Tararuas can be seen above the low cloud.

Cheers, Paul.
