Photographer's Note
Lord of the Rings. The infamous dawn winds of Patagonia swirl lake water through holes in newly formed ice after the the first snow of the season dusts the Fitzroy range.
H2D 50mm lens 1/5 sec at f16 ISO 400. 3 stop Daryl Benson reverse GND filter to hold back highlights on the peak.

You captured a special one here. I am envious of not only of your opportunity to the Patagonian mountains, but also you got good weather and light! You certainly made best of this opportunity. It is masterful.

Hallo Michael!
Here you really have been at the right place to the right time. You caught an incredible atmosphere here. These sunlit "torres" simply are gorgeous. The buildup of this photo is very inventive and it emphasizes this natural beauty in a skillful way! Great!

Hi Mike,
Gorgeous light. Masterful composition but the three swirls of water in the foreground are what elevate this image for me and the small patch of snow anchors it quite nicely.
Brilliant!

Lord of the Rings indeed. Those three rings of water are amazing. There must be an incredible story behind this photo. You captured this perfectly. Truly one of the most impressive landscape photos I've ever seen. This beats any other photos of Fitzroy I've seen by Art Wolfe or anyone else.

Hello Michael,
The lighting and composition here are truly magical! The combination of "fire and ice" is breathtaking, with the mountains in the distance shining brilliantly beneath the sun. Great job capturing those rings, too! You have a very impressive gallery.

Michael: I would actually shudder to think of some of these on archival print media. What has been your experience with it? What are some of your favorite learning resources on the web. This shot (and all of yours) show a painterly command of exposure times and f/stops but I figure you'd better know that stuff with a bazooka on board. Isn't there a H3D now? You could sell your house.. c
