Photographer's Note
I've been to this region four times now, from the UK. Each time I've spent one or two weeks around the region hoping for a sunrise shot of Cerro Torre, and I finally got it this April. After a week of really bad weather and zero visibility, I gave up and headed south, only to return a few days later determined to get a shot of the mountain before I returned home. I had one good morning of weather and the sky gave me some lovely colours for around 5 minutes before it was all gone. Taken on a low tripod down near the ground.

Hello Bruce
Sublime work, excellent detail in the ice, and the shape of this ice is also fascinating. Reflections and colours are really good with excellent background mountains and cloud formations.
Well done

Hello Bruce,
What a nice picture ! Colors in the sky, and their reflection in water, are really good. I also like this ice on the foreground. And the background is beautiful : these mountains seems so cold !
Congratulations.

hi Bruce
Really unique to see the ice out of the water.
Very good capture of color tone with the ice as feature. Good composed view showing layers of color at reflection and the sky. A fine post.

Hi Bruce,
The colors are lovely while the landscape is as spectacular as magical, with this thin piece of ice of a very special shape, that seems to be in borrowed time before the melting. The transparency of the ice is magnificent and the reflections in the sunrise lights, too. Those 5 minutes must have been impressive and exultant! Congratulations,
Marine

Impressive. This spot has been a favorite since seeing the Herzog movie about the climbers. But your shot has a special feel, with these amazing pastel reflections and the ice piece in the foreground.

Hello Bruce.
Sublime scenery of Cerro Torre captured beautifully with the glowing red clouds. It is worth having visited such the bad-weather land four times. Breathtaking shot.
Have a nice day, Hisashi

Hello Bruce!
That's such a wonderful picture for the landscape itself, but also for the colors (you waited for the right time), the reflection and, of course, for that incredible piece of ice (an iceberg?) as the greatest highlight!
That's one place in Argentina I still want to visit so badly!
Your effort and patience were both very well rewarded by what your eyes saw and by what you could register in your camera and share with all of us!
TFS - Congratulations!

Great! Was there myself last november but never got to see Cerro Torre! Did you use a very long exposure time as the water looks like ice ? Or was it ice? (can imagine it is all frozen by april!)

Hi,
Well done, it must have been worth all the waiting. What a beautiful place! And such bright colourful contrasts of blues and purples. This would make a brilliant poster picture.
