Photographer's Note
the city of Paraty is like a small museum within a tropical paradise. Its colonial buildings recall the time when it was a major gold shipping port in the XVI century. It is regarded by UNESCO as the most harmonious ensemble of colonial buildings in Brazil. Their rusticity, if compared to the colonial architecture of other towns in Brazil, perfectly matches its location on the beach and makes for a very charming and unique ambience.
More information abou Paraty can be found here.
Retouched with dodge tool. A gradient map layer was added to bw. Sometimes colors don´t help... the damaged grass had "bad" aspect... and didn´t match the blue sky. Another version can be found in my usefilm´s portfolio.

Hi Carmem!
Congrats for this powerful b&w shot. Converting into b&w was a very good choice. It fits to the whole scenery and the heavy clouds. The brighter spot in front of the bench is an eycatcher. Very good work!

Hi Carmem! Another top-notch shot from you. I love the choice to go to b/w and the high amount of contrast really helps make this shot so good. The way the light is hitting the grass in the foreground is excellent. Most impressive shooting Carmem!

Hi Carmem,
This is a great shot. I love the contrast, the depth of field, and the tones in the sky. You've really managed to capture the rustic feel of the place, as mentioned in your note. Good one!

I am tempted to say I like the stark simplicity of this image but there is something more - a sophistication of composition and tone - perhaps a little too contrasty for my own liking but I appreciate it nevertheless.
