A wonderful 2009 to all my friends!

This shot was taken on Brasília Beach, in the afternoon...I had just had a bowl of Açaí.

The juice and pulp of Açaí fruits are frequently used in various juice blends, smoothies, sodas, and other beverages. In northern Brazil, Açaí (or Jussara, which is one of the fruit's common folk names) is traditionally served in gourds called "cuias" with tapioca and, depending on the local preference, can be consumed either salty or sweet (sugar, rapadura and honey are known to be used in the mix). Açaí has become popular in southern Brazil where it is consumed cold as Açaí na tigela ("Açaí in the bowl"), mostly mixed with granola — a fad in which Açai is considered an energizer. Açaí is also widely consumed in Brazil as an ice cream flavor or juice. The juice has also been used in a flavored liqueur.

You may ask what Açai has to do with the lonely boat. Probably nothing but I wanted to share that nice moment with you: eating Açai on Brasília Beach and going backing to Encantadas Beach where I was hosted. This Lonely Boat is the easiest and pleasantest way of transportation from one beach to the other.

Está um espetáculo esta imagem! O formato vertical muito bem escolhido para incluir todos os elementos necessários para compor essa fotografia de maneira magnifica: o céu, o horizonte, o barco e a superfície do mar! Luminosidade e nitidez excelentes e um colorido belíssimo! O céu está demais, principalmente na parte superior, mas não consigo dizer que prefiro isto ou aquilo, todo o conjunto é que está muito bom!

nice luminosity in the water, but i am not so sure about the pp on the sky. the top 1/3 does not look natural for my eye. love it for the serenity in the foreground scene though.

Olá Carlos,
O açaí da nota é só para dar polpa ao texto, já que não haveria muito a digressionar sobre uma paisagem de simples contemplação... O enquadramento está primoroso, e o equilíbrio de positivos e negativos muito bom, especialmente a silhueta do morro e a semi-silhueta do barco, espelhados pela reta do horizonte. Os reflexos prateados e dourados na água estão estupendos, aliás. O céu embruscado, de que costumo gostar muito em fotografia, aparenta traços de pp, mas, pelas explicações que vc já deu ao Kristaps, vejo que o fenômeno é natural (supondo que não tenha puxado demais as sombras). Um céu realmente interessante, poderoso, de iluminação quase surreal. Fez o bracketing sem tripé mesmo?

The luminosity together with the overcast sky created a kind of dramatic atmosphere and it made an interesting contrast with the boat on the still water! The vertical format works well too!

Okay. So I'm just now getting back into TE after a year off so I'm catching up on all the new photo's of my favorite members. Love this shot. I'm drawn to monochromatic when it's done well. The longer exp and lighting make it look like this image was almost craved out of a single piece of steel or etched into a bronze plate. I'm finding I'm also drawn to texture. Thanks for the insight ;) Thios reminds me of the boats in Puerto Rico that float around from the nearby restaurants taking orders for beach goers. Beautiful.
