Photographer's Note
Returning in car from Santiago (Chile) to Buenos Aires (Argentina) by the Paso Internacional Cristo Redentor, a denominated passage is due to cross "The Snails of Portillo" that in only 16 km it rises 1000 meters and it counts on 32 curves of 180º.
Depending the time on the year, the vehicles of heavy transport, they can cross them in several hours.
Being the main commercial and turistico step between both paises, the Directions of Road of Argentina like of Chile, works allowing the users of the different countries, to have this expeditious step the greater possible part of the winter season. The necessity to maintain this runner opened to the commerce, is opposed with the difficult characteristics which the route presents/displays to be a layout in mountainous zone, with a Maxima altitude on the level of the sea of 3,200 meters, difficulties, to which the rigorous climatic conditions that appear during the winter, with abundant precipitations of snow, landslides by accumulation of, stone ice and fall must be added on the road, among other consequences.

AJJJ!!

This is a great view, Shumi, eat your heart out. They should have a Grand Prix here. I like the overall picture. Your f-stop is too wide to render this landscape sharp. you need a smaller f-stop of f16-f22.

Excelente!

This is an amazing road. The cars and trucks far down add a great sense of scale and how far this goes. I also like the way this looks from the landscape and your angle. It seems as though you are looking straight out and there is this zig zag road on impossible angles drawn over a landscape of hills. It just looks so amazing and unreal. I also like this apparently perfectly maintained road in this desolate environment. Very neat shot. Great job.

A true descent into Hell, the title bears its name well. The perspective is packed, compressed by the use of a long focal increases the feeling of danger on this road.
Well done Ricardo.

Hi Ricardo. I come very late to this picture -I missed it - and I must say it's a marvellous picture. The very deep and indigo-inducing PoV, the strong graphic content (fine contrast between the smooth lines of the sinuous road and the rough ones of the mountains. Great job, added as favourite.

Impressive image of an impressive road, Ricardo. It's like being put back some 40 years - although the road standard is higher today. Here too the heavy loaded trucks are working their way up to the pass. You've captured it in a nice angle - showing a lot of the harsh surrounding - a magnificent landscape. Maybe it could be a pinch sharper, but you've covered a great distance from the lovely flowers up front to the road disappearing at the bottom of the valley. I'd like to drive this one! Well done!

Let me add two points on this one Ricardo. What a nice composition you proposed here. I like the POV on that road, the slope is amazing. Wonderful way you present it here, with a useful and nice foreground in two layers: some green branches and the road itself! Very well seen and perfectly done, the many curves of the road work fine. Nice impact, fine work. Congratulations Ricardo.

A dizzying view and interesting pattern. I would crop the rocks and weeds in the foreground to make it more abstract. The image could use a bit more sharpness.

Ok, ok!

abrazos
Edgar
