Ponchos, a photo from Cusco, South

Photographer's Note

This picture was taken in Cusco. I was walking through the Plaza de Armas (the main square in the middle of the old town), and I saw this group of children wearing the typical peruvian "poncho". The name of this garment comes from the quechua "punchu".

Una foto muy colorida y pintoresca la que nos presentas. Me gusta que hayas cogido un plano proximo de manera que podamos ver bien la vestimenta y las variadas expresiones de la gente. Asi tiene más vida la imagen. Me gusta mucho como la has encuadrado con esos de jovenes en la parte baja de la foto que nos concentran la atencion, y despues por arriba las columnas de la catedral que nos dan justo la poca información que necesitamos para imaginar un poco el contexto.

the best part in this picture are the faces, not the colour or composition.

Gracias por la foto y por la nota, pondré mas atención en el quechua como lengua de influencia en el español, ya habrá alguien que se atreva a decir "poncho, del latín Ponchum".

Hi Victor, this must beone of the best portraiture that portraits TE's objective: the people, culture, architecture. The facial expressions of your subjects are the real assets of this photograph. Interestingly, the three kids in front must have been distracted by something else. Precious capture!!!..Thanks for sharing...Alex

This seems a scene from a theater production. I love it. The colors of the ponchos is so vivid and all the diferent expressions very interesting.
