Going Home, a photo from Cusco, South

Photographer's Note

This brother and sister walked past me earlier in the day while I was taking pictures. Initially, I tried to snap a good shot of them, but the results were poor. Waiting in an interesting alley, I waited for them to return. Sure enough, they did. For me, patience paid off for this photo. I have no idea if the baby on the little girl's back is hers, but I imagine they are only caring for her while the mother is working.

In a workshop I send you version with lighted up children, I leave it up to you to assess which one is better

A really nice moment - well captured Mark - I like the workshop which does lift the image with more detail in the shadow areas yet retaining a good contrast. Well done for the watching and waiting!

Beautiful picture, I like the DOF here.
Yes the children are a bit too dark but you can correct them with a software.
Beautiful light and colors, good atmosphere.

Very good. I like specially how you have used the focus: You have focusing on the boys, leting the rest of the scene unsharp, this together with the fact that you show us the back of the boys give and strage air of "voyerism". Congratulations, very, very good job. Did you like Perú? I loved.

It is an interesting alley. Good catch of daily life. Interesting light and nice blurry bg. I like that they are holding hands. It makes the scene much “wormer”.

Very well captured. I would have tried a vertical shot instead may be.The perspective would have been even better I think. The workshop from Antoni makes it even better. Congratulations.

What an excellent shot. Your DOF is narrow enough to place emphasis on the two subjects, but also wide enough to give us a sense of place which is so important in this picture (and the fact that makes it so good). I also like the second character in the background waiting behind the open gate (as if waiting for these two children). Anyway, excellent work.

this is very nice, beautiful moment with kids holding hands, nice compo too with that street strating from the bottom of the frame becoming narrower and blurred... very good quality too. nice work

Nicely composed and well worth the wait. This photograph makes me wonder what their life is like on a daily basis. When you can glimpse into a life with one photo, you have succeeded on many levels. Thanks for sharing.
