Photographer's Note

In Peru's rural areas, the way people dress makes an important distinction, as a result of the blend of pre-Hispanic influences with the European clothing that the natives were forced to wear during the colonial era. Today the Quechua and Aymara peoples of the Andes continue to weave. Although many are forsaking old ways, the traditions survive in some regions.

Cloth remains at the center of the spiritual life of the community; special bundles of cloth are kept and revered as embodiments of their ancestors. Some of these cloths may be centuries old.

The traditional Inca anacu was transformed by the local women into the brightly-colored and multi-layered petticoats known as polleras. Depending on the region, a black skirt is decorated with a belt which can come in a variety of colors and is decorated with flowers or floral patterns.

Yes a nice Dolinade...

Love the old costume. Is it just me or did people used to dress much more colorfully than they do today? It seems that these traditional costumes always are so colorful and have great designs. You really went in as close as possible here and filled out the frame really well.

Cest tres bien prise le PDV, en plus je ne sais pas si tu as remarqué, mais celci cest un traditional motif pour l'art local. Je m'ai meme acheté des tableaus au Perou avec cete theme la.

J'aime beaucoup que la composition avec le cadre serré qui met l'attention sur le chapeau et les tresses et surtout encore ce sac de merveille qui comporte surement encore plus de couleurs! Stunning colours here, which you have framed well to give a very strong image visually. I like the additional details of the hat and the woman's plaits too, which are so typical of the people of this area.

ce n'est pas évident d'oser un cadrage de dos. mais lorsque c'est pour mettre en valeur de tels tissus, l'étoffe devient le sujet principal. Très belle enetteté et bien sur incroyables couleurs.

A great composition here, filled with all the vibrant colours. Sometimes the vibrant colours is a distraction from the poverty of these people, as it portrays happiness.
I like the way you choose to shoot from behind, as it gives the image a dimension of suspense.
An excellent Anti Armani (Armani always wears black) image! : )

Very nice colored one, you were right to target with a perfect POV these typical clothings and sack, I suppose she was shopping on a market seeing the same colors in the background. An excellent TE shot with perfect guiding note.

Ah la la toujours en chasse, t'as pu conclure avec celle la ?
Belle petite Dolinade et des super belles couleurs qui claquent sur sa pollera, ca c'est un vrai rendu Canon, faut pas passer un pullover pour regarder la photo comme sur les N.... ;-)
C'est interessant ici de voir comment le design et les couleurs de la pollera est similaire a ce qui se fait en Bolivie, mais comment le chapeau de cette miss permet d'identifier tout de suite le Perou, car en Bolivie c'est chapeau melon obligatoire !

I love this serie of Peru's costums. I've got one blanket from this place, very similar to this pattern. And I agree with Rafal, about the colourful traditional clothings. They are very attractive to the eye and I always have the hurge of photographing them.
This close up composition, shows the feeling I'm talking, very well. The result is wonderful. Good work!

quelle galerie! J'aimerai bien que ce soit la mienne ; ) Le choix est très difficile à faire... Mon premier choix va s'arrêter sur celle-ci.
Les couleurs sont magnifiques et l'angle de la prise me plait beaucoup... Il permet d'imaginer un visage...
Mon choix aussi car ma meilleure amie a fait un voyage en Amérique du Sud et est passé par le Pérou... Ce qu'elle m'a raconté sur les gens qui y vivent m'a plus... de la gentillesse, des sourires, et une grande hospitalité... Je pense qu'elle aimerait cette photo aussi.
