Photographer's Note
Another photo of the same kid from yesterday. They saw me camera as I was walking around one fine morning around dawn. Right away they grabbed me and asked me to take their pictures. Having only bought the camera a few days ago, I was still trying to figure out how best to use it. Between him and his friend I must of shot 100 photos. I guess you can say they were my first subjects with the DSLR.

i like his eyes but imo the dof it too shallow and also the cropped mouth looks strange..
nice colours.

Hi Mark,
I like this one better than yesterday's. I think that the close focus on some of the kid's features as well as the very blurred background are great. I do agree with Khmelins that a fuller mouth would be nicer, bit still great shot.

i've heard once.... just as long the focus is on eyes - that is all that matters.
And it is! Although there are same areas which are not but I think this is just fine (I exprience the same 'problems').
Again, beautiful portrait, love the softness... even though it is done with a digital camera.
Again.... the crop a little bit too high. Lips are part of his smile too.. to bad you did not include them.
sorry, out of little green smiley faces
regards,
Krzysztof

Very nice Mark. I like your DOF and colours. This kids eyes show his happiness so you could probably get away with cropping the mouth. Why don't you try it in a WS...I'd be interested in seeing the result.
Well done...regards
