Photographer's Note
Another photo on the shoe shiners of S.America. This one was taken in Merida, Venezuela. During high tourist seasons, it is not very hard to find work, but other times, finding one customer an hour can become hard work. Often times the children who sometimes shine the shoes would come up and ask you for their service...even if you are wearing hiking boots.

Good idea to take the instrument but not the one who uses it, as if he had disappeared, or was invisible. In the background we have the effect : shining shoes.

Great composition; incredible sharpness, color, and depth. You have told a story using very simple elements and without showing us some of the more obvious details.

Mark: Good composition and sharpness. The contrasting lights against the wall make it all work out really nice. Congrats!

Very nice and original point of view, I like how you cleverly recalled the apparatus' primary function with the shiny shoes in the background. Ccolor contrast between the blue wall and the brown of the box is another superb feature.
Technically you've done an appropriate DoF choice, perhaps around f/4 or f/5.6... the lens shaprness cannot be faulted, coupled with the 300D sensor, it's simply impressive...
