A nice simple photo here Mark, with really nice lighting. Not much you could do, but a more interesting sky would really help here, and I wish that the ball or whatever it is closer to the left wasn't there. Good shot.

Hello Mark,
Very good composition with that man, being alone on this small road.
What I like here is that this man is looking at a small object on the ground - I don't know what is it. It seems that now he discovers that there was something on the ground, he doesn't feel alone anymore!
Very good DOF and light.

Hello Mark. The lateral light really makes this photograph stand out. A simple composition that finds its strength in the DOF and the golden colours. I agree with darren in saying that The "thing" on the left should probably have been cloned out.

Slice of life, that. I really like the rich colours of dawn, the dust on the dirt road. I have mixed feelings about the loss of distance focus to depth of field, but I think ultimately I like this and the emphasis it brings to the subject.

hey, that's really a loooovely shot, Mark...the lighting and the colors are gorgeous... and you caught the exact moment, when he slightly turns his head looking away at the horizon.

For us western people, left side means the past, hence we could suppose he's looking back at his day of work : that makes it a pleasant relaxed seeing.. there's no such stressful tension or even tiredness as we could imagine in other views of people coming back from their work... but perhaps is it only a false idea we've got from your nice image..

the warm light and the peaceful setting give a special atmosphere to this photo, i agree the guy looking to the left is more interesting than to see just his back, but i wish that thing on the left wasn't there, and... is the horizon straight?

I'm surprised no one has made the connection between the man's left-leaning gaze and the plastic thing on the left. For me, it turns this otherwise 'timeless' piece (in that his motion down the road is implied) into a single decisive moment.
