Pacifica is often maligned as being a foggy bedroom community to the more grandiose and cosmopolitan San Francisco. It is a lovely and peaceful small city with a strong sense of pride in its natural beauty and history (from the hills of Pacifica Portola discovered San Francisco bay. It offers 100s of miles of well maintained hiking trails and it's a surfers' paradise. Winter in Pacifica is beautiful. On a brilliant November morning, after hiking on the bluffs I walked down to the beach and there were dozens of surfers out. This guy stood out, he surfed for a while and then collected his full crab trap (holding it on his other hand). He bid me "good day" as he walked past me.
