Photographer's Note

Snaking down the rock face the tentacle like root of a mesquite tree finds the coarse sand at the edge of the Aqua Fria River's dry bed and plunges in. The current center of the river, when it's flowing, is 100 - 150 yards away, but it is likely this root follows the "submerged" rock face to a depth of 100 feet or more in its quest for a reliable source of water.

interesting picture well framed with this impressive roots, well presented with an ideal vertical format, good effect too with the lateral light to give play of light and shadows, tfs.
