Today I'm starting taking you on a journey to the far west of New South Wales (NSW) and then into South Australia and up to the large inland salt lake of Lake Eyre.
Our travel west in NSW was mainly via back roads with our first pause being to have a look at the 1 teacher school where I started my teaching career - Wallundry, about 20 kilometres out of the town of Temora and standing in the middle of wheat and sheep paddocks.
The school has been closed since 1969 or 1970 but it was a shock to find it in a state of ruin. It turned out that a willy willy (like a tornado but usually smaller) had been through and ripped apart the roof and uprooted several trees.
In the WS are a photo taken from outside the school gate and one of an abandoned farm worker's cottage visible from the school.
If you go to the Temora folder you'll see photos that I took of the school in 1966 when I was a very younger new teacher and one I took in 2010.

Pozdrav.
Danas smo komsije sa fotografijama na TE.
Lep pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
Lepo mesto sa starom kucom i palim drvetom, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom, perspektivom i uhvacenim trenutkom sa oblacima.
Dobar rad sa fotografijama u radionici.
Zelim vam lepo popodne za odmor, sve najbolje.

Hello Ian,
WS #2 indicates what a nice area this is, and it's interesting to compare this view with especially the 2010 photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ian,
I thought in English "willy" refers to a male body part? Maybe that is why for the purpose of the wind it is used twice?
Beautiful series of photos. I like the color theme, which makes it feel like an old photograph.
Very well done,
M

Hi Ian,
The trees are helping to frame the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the abandoned school. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian
It's a pity to just let the building fall apart. Maybe relocate it to an outdoor museum and restore it? They had an old school within the grounds of the Jondaryan Woolshed on the Darling Downs. Interested me to see the old slates the kids used to write on, as well as old school photos. Tfs!

Hello Ian,
The photo is very well composed and offers a great view of this old, abandoned school building and the damage done by the storm. Nice soft colours and light here.

Hi Ian,there were few differences between 1966 and 2010, but now it is really badly reduced after the passage of the cyclone. It is definitely a wound to your feelings, this school is a part of your life and it is really sad to see it in these conditions, but it is life ... great start of your new reportage! Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ian,
The devastation is quite apparent from this angle. Are you sure it was Willy Willy, and not Willy Wonka, that came through?

Hello Ian
Well, I see that this little willy willy ... no harm was done, disastrously !!!!
Instead it has brought quite a 'dramatic' scene to the school. It does make the scenery quite photogenic ... full of rustic charm to the surroundings.
I can see that this place is bone-dry. No rain has come , only willy willy :-)
Tfs,
Loong
