Resting rock in Namche, a photo from Sagarmatha, East

Photographer's Note

Young porters having rest on a big rock in Namche Bazaar 3440 m. after the market.
Also asking, not everybody is happy with the camera.

Scanned slide, better results viewing the image on a good LCD screen, on a CRT the result is very poor.

This is simply amazing! Some shots come along that blow my socks off and this is one such shot (pity that there are no comments...guess not everyone shares my opinion of a great photo).

Your compo is what makes this shot what it is. I like the background and the things around the people that tell me a little more about who they are and what they are doing there. I also like how they all seem to be sitting in line, a line that guides my eye throughout the shot and from face to different face.

Color contrast is amazing as well...the beauty of film is still wonderful. Anyway, exceptional shot. A fave of mine for sure.

Really a great shot. I can't quite put my finger on it, but this has a timeless look, almost like something you'd come across thumbing through an old issue of National Geographic. This really conveys a lot of statements in the imagery. One, the beauty and ruggedness of Nepal. Secondly, the hard life of a porter. I'm very drawn to this image.

What I picked up is the young boy smoking a cigarette. That is what makes this picture REAL TO ME.
They are not looking at you,they are not posing, they are not giving you fake smiles.. they are just themselves.
good job.

excellant photograph..first of all I feel dizzy, it has suzh a weird angle and depth..they look like Gulliver's people between those plants that look like giant grass..and they are very natural in their own resing time..and colors are lovely..excellant..

What an absolutely fantastic image - I love your composition and the clarity of the picture - a nice range of expressions and posture and interesting contextual detail - beautiful use of the DOF too!
