Photographer's Note
Yes, it was slippery. I had just parked my car ON the frozen river and I had much difficulty to walk towards these racing motorcycles, the ice was quite slippery. I then realized how extreme this sport was - racing on ice, even if they have spikes on their tires. The temperature was about -12C and a little wind made it even more chilly so I was quite glad that my car was near to go warm up.
--
My first experience with fast moving objects and with the teleconverter also. I have a lot of shots where I say only the flying snow behind the motorcycles. I' m kind of satisfied of the result since my camera was handheld and I succeeded in capturing 2 racers while they were turning.
Just cropped bottom and upper part, automatic level.

Photo prise au bon moment dans le virage, le motard de gauche est situé sur un point fort, ce qui renforce l'intéret de cette bonne composition.

Nina...you keep on surprising us with your new themes:-)Great capture of this action shot as the ice-racers come swinging around a corner at these low angles.Maybe that was Paul Leduc(zx11) out there showing us his talents on the motorcycle? :-)

I'm very proud of you for expanding your horizon, and delving into taking action shots as good as this one. Great use of your teleconverter too. It was well worth getting cold for.

Ah Nina, you have done it again! A perfect capture of the movement of these motos on the slippery ice with the blowing snow for emphasis. Well framed, too. I think the panoramic crop emphasizes the dynamism of the movement.

I think it is a classical compostion when shooting this motive for the sport pages. There might be several explainations to that, the angle and their tilt in the bend is dramatic but it is also a position where they by mathematical definitions are standing allmost still in relation to you which makes them easier to catch than on a high speed straight section. Well done Nina!

Good shot Nina. Your first trial is a success. Your shutter speed was pretty slow for that type of shot but the image is still clear and the action well illustrated. Bravo !

Great action capture you made - The black motorcyclist a perfect constast to the white - well done.
May be my monitor playing tricks with me - but I see some kind of cheesboard pattern in the snow - Ok its time for bed -lets see if its there tomorrow ;-)

Excelant action shot Nina. You have all right to be satisfied with thisone. You captured them at the very right moment. 2 seconds later they would have been gone. 1 second later they would have been half way out of the photo. Thre position as to where they are hedding is very good.
Congratulations to you first fast moving action shot.

And that's a great action shot from you Nina. Composition with two motorcycles is great. I can feel their motion.
Great shot! I like it a lot!
