Yellow School, a photo from Kyoto, Kinki

Photographer's Note

These are some school kids that I saw at a festival in Kyoto. This girl was looking at me with that cute face and I had to take a picture. There were other kids from other schools wearing hats of different colors, so I guess the color of the hat is associated with the school. I don't know this for sure, so if someone who lives in Japan sees this picture maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi Tali,

As a matter of fact, costums in Japan are a big thing. Whether you are a school teacher or a zoo guardian, everyone have their official suits.

So school kids make no exception, and whenever they go out, they all have their distinctive hats, which are a sure way not to loose track of them. I’ve met a lot of those groups everywhere I was going, and usually, their teacher have a little flag as well, to be easily identified.

Your photo is very nice Tali. Not only the main subject is cute and a bit shy, but the other little girl holding her hand is attention getting as well. This is the kind of shot you don’t have 10 chance to capture and you’ve done it exquisitely, with perfect cropping. You’ve seized this moment when her face expression was perfectly photogenic.

Hi Tali,

Nice portrait, the colors are strong and crisp. Very nice expression on this girls face, well captured. You are right, every school have their own color to distinguish themselves. Not only school kids, I tour groups wearing a coloured bands in their arms for identification during my visit to Mt.Fuji. I felt tht as a good idea.

Photo très percutante avec une extraordinaire expression de l'écolière. C'est l'instant exact qu'il ne fallait pas rater. Très bonne composition avec des couleurs éclatantes... comme je les aime.

P.D.: Ya se ha vuelto como una especia de hobbie o "espectativa" el chequear cada tanto tiempo tus fotos porque cada dia estan mas buenas e interesantes!

Hola Tali, sorprendente color y definición y ya no hablemos de la expresividad de las niñas es una delicia visual.
Yo hubiera elegido otro encuadre y si me lo permites te lo enseño en el " Workshops ", es simplemente otro punto de vista.
