C'mon bite fish..., a photo from Quebec, Central

Photographer's Note

His father just bore a hole in the ice on the St-Laurent river in Verchères, he installed his fishing gear and then the kid just sat and started looking in the hole waiting for the fish to bite. Usually someone would bore many holes with each this little equipment and then he would just have to wait for the fish to bite. In my opinion, not too much of a sport. But it seems that the fun comes with the gathering of friends and taking a beer, or two, or three....

Ice fishing - yep, having lived on the prairie for quite a bit, that's what its all about. Nice colour contrast, specially the kid's face! So simple and tells a great story of life in the cold.

Interesting image Nina, the equipment used here is fascinating, the way that the fish actually gets caught by its own movement re - the notched pole being hooked by the falling rod is something I have learned from this, good metering with the ice being a true life colour and not overexposed , balanced composition but the story I gain from it is so much more than a picture thanks for posting this one.

Great capture of the child's look of hopeful anticipation.That is quite the sophisticated jig he has there:-)I like the blending tones of green on the surface ice,the coat and the slushy water in the hole.
Not my idea of sport either but ,as you say, it is more of a good excuse for an outdoor winter social gathering:-)

Tu parle de une, deux ou trois bières, j'espère que le kid va continuer à s'occuper de la pêche parce qu'il va passer en dessou de la table avec tous ces adultes qui ne pensent qu'à eux. J'espère qu'il a appris à cuisiner.

Très belle photo de la nature et de la vie en hiver.

And he wears a fish hat! Wonderful. This is an excellent shot, Nina, I like it very much. The hole in the eyes produces very nice green tones. I hope his fathrer is watching while drinkind hiss bears. I am always afraid a big fish will jump and bithe the kid ;-)

I hope you gave more shot of this kid, maybe you captured a catch?

Encore une photo passé à la trappe pour moi pourtant que j'aime bien car elle touche un domaine passion pour moi : la pêche (cf monsite internet)
J'ai deja vu ce type de peche à la tv mais pas en photo !
Alors dans mes favoris direct et deux points car c'est mon coup de coeur du jour associé a une belle photo bien coloré !

I love this series of winter shots that you have been posting for the last days. They are all so charming, jsut as this one. The composition is really nice and the colours stand out so nice against the ice. Truly a great job Nina.

This feels like me as a kid here in Sweden, i like the picture it gives me memories of my childhood!
