Country Road, a photo from Highland, Scotland

Photographer's Note

On one of my walks, I followed a road to return to the town. It's amazing - the perfect slow winding road! I'm sure there are many, but it just has that perfect feeling of a quiet country road, somehow reflected in the natural soft colors.

Very nice composition with the road winding off into the distance. I also like the branch in the foreground, it gives the picture some depth. I like the way the gray of the road matches the gray of the sky! - it looks like that today as well but with a bit of wind and rain added for good measure -ah summer!

I love the curve of the road through the shot and the wonderful combination of grey and green. A lovely scene and a very nicely composed shot.

Hi, Dan,

I agree that the composition is good (diagonals, winding road, branch/leaves as a framing/perspective device). It strikes me as a bit too green overall, and I wonder whta it would be like with a bit more contrast. It does look like beautiful countryside.

Absolutely gorgeous view! I like the colors, especially as they reflect the gray day, but are still bright enough to make me smile. You caught great elements too - the branch in the forground, the wonderful S curve, the drawing your eyes off into eternity - I have got to get to Scotland. :o)

This is a wonderful image Dan and very reminiscent of my time in Scotland, including a visit to the Isle of Skye. I remain eternally a fan of Scotch Whisky that comes from this region. I wonder at the fact you seem to post images that don't take advantage of the pixels offered by TE. This image would benefit if you'd taken the full 800 pixel width. Everything about the image is fine, so more of it would be welcome, at least to me. Fine job.

I think this is a wonderful capture. The curve of the road, the soft greens. Excellent clarity, DOF, colours. Good job.

Bela Paisagem, com um verde fantático. Tudo em perfeita combinação, o céu as montanhas e o lago, em que mesmo a intervenção humana acrescentou alguma belesa a esta paisagem. Bom registo e parebéns.

Good shot Dan, I like the snaking road... like a lot in Scotland, as you see it disappear round the corner or over the crest of a hill you wonder what is waiting for you!
