Photographer's Note

Taken from the plane before landing in Lisbon. The quality is not the best but it was taken throught the plane window and there was some condensation. From the net the following information was found, " The aqueduct was built between 1732 and 1748 and spans 36 miles, bridging the Alcantara valley via a series of 35 arches. At the time of construction, the arches were the world's tallest, and they remain a formidable sight to this day, having survived the massive 1755 earthquake."
I first saw this beautiful sight as a 13 year old and I was impressed by its massive purpose. To me it is a symbol of hard work of a gone by generation, and we presently can enjoy its elegance and beauty.
