The Red Center is a name given to the Central Australian Desert, an area bigger than most European countries. The soil here is red with iron ore and the only vegetation that survives in one of the hottest and driest places on earth are the many species of Eucalyptus or gum tree that are adapted to survive there. It is an area so vast, that one farm (cattle station) is bigger than Belgium.

After the Chinese occupations of their homeland in 1954 many Tibetan people have followed their leader, the Dali Lama into exile, in India,Nepal and other countries they keep their culture and religion alive and dream of one day returning to their home

Bung bang Fai festivals occur all over the North-East of Thailand at the end of the dry season. They are fertility rites intended to call on the rains to come. Here, in Roi Et, each village competes to build and fire the best home made rocket. They were originally intended to awaken the dragon in the sky, to send the rain. They are accompanied by many strange customs, some of their meanings seem to be lost in the mist of time. Most of all they are fun. Isarn people love to have fun.

In Kathmandu the principle Hindu temple is the Pashputinath. It contains hundreds of beautifully carved shrines to many, many gods. Most of these date from the 14th to 16th centuries. Often they are inhabited by Sadhus or Holy men. The different costumes and colored paint indicate different sub sects and the differnet gods that they worship.

This is a ancient fertility festival, held in a remote town in the mountains of N.E Thailand. The colourful traditions are unique to the area and involve the whole community. The center on masked spirit dancers who dance and cavort for two days and nights throughout the town..
