Sete cidades is probably the most photographed view in the island of Sao MIguel.. These two side by side lakes have given rise to legends and stories, and some say it is part of the lost continent of Atlantis. The lakes were created inside the crater of a dead volcano. In the surrounding areas there are hot springs and fumoroles.

This theme is simply for photos of the Aqueduto das Águas Livres in Portugal. Part of the aqueduct should be included in the photo.

" The aqueduct was built between 1732 and 1748 and spans 36 miles, bridging the Alcantara valley via a series of 35 arches. At the time of construction, the arches were the world's tallest, and they remain a formidable sight to this day, having survived the massive 1755 earthquake."
