The listed as a World Heritage Site by Unesco Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park is an ancient plateau with an estimated age of 1.8 billion years. The area of the park is around 655 square kilometres, located at Goias state. Its a 1,700 meters altitude place. The rock formations are one of the oldest on the planet.

The starting city of this trip is Brasilia. The park is located around 260Km from Brasilia and 1,500Km from Rio de Janeiro.

Is mandatory to joint a group with a registered guide in order to be allowed to enter the park. Each group is formed by one to ten people. When we was there, only two groups of six was in th park. The guide fee is around US$30 to be divided to all group members and the fee entrance is around US$2.00.

Only two routes are now available in the park. Our choise was the route one, a 11.8Km in an all day long trip. Two days are enough to visit the park. More four or five to visit places in the park vicinity. There are more than 200 waterfalls in the region.

The park entrance is in the town called "São Jorge", far around 20Km in a not paved road from "Alto Paraiso de Goias". You can find lodge at US$30/40 for a couple easily in the low season.

The best time to visit the park in from April to November, out of raining season.
