Avre Aqueduct.
For an article in the local newspaper, I made a report on this viaduct which crosses the district. I will post five photos.
This viaduct feeds PARIS with spring water and was built in two years, of 1891 to 1893.
True technical success entirely carried out in masonry.
Building was directed by Fulgence Bienvenue, the future Father of the Metropolitain of PARIS.
Of a section of 1,70 meter, it is spread out over 102 kilometers between Verneuil and St Cloud.
It naturally functions thanks to a difference in level of 39 meters, that is to say a slope of 0,38 mm per meter!!!
The speed of water is 2,25 km/h and thus spends 40 hours to join PARIS.
Its flow is 160.000 m3 a day.
Very recently a section of 1507 meters was replaced by pipes of 8 meters length, 1,80 meter diameter, weighing each one 8 tons and adjusted by laser system.
The management of this work is centralized thanks to very many sensors laid out all along construction.
